Hi! We’re Kevin and Nicole. We met in law school in 2004, began dating at the beginning of 2005, and got married in December 2009. Well, that’s the short story. The long version details an epic love story where good triumphs over evil, High School Musical and Pizza Hut pizza provide a calm before the storm, Disney annual passes become rational, Broadway favorites are musicals (unless it’s Hugh Jackman or Ewan McGregor, then plays are just fine), a pet T-Rex named Elliott moves in, and Diet Cokes are ice cold at all times. Our first travel adventure together was our honeymoon in Australia. Since then, we’ve made it our mission to pack in as much travel and adventure as possible. We started this blog as a creative outlet to share our passion for travel, adventure, and photography, but we also want to show others that is absolutely possible to balance a full time job and travel/adventure!
About Nicole
Hi! I’m Nicole, and I am a travel addict. I was born and raised in a small town in south Mississippi. My curiosity for travel began at an early age with my grandparents. My grandfather worked for an Egyptian oil company. That meant that my grandparents lived in Maadi, Egypt, the majority of the year. Growing up, I always wanted to visit to see where they lived, but money was an issue. One day, my grandfather made the offer to everyone in the family that, if they’d pay for half of the plane ticket, he’d cover the rest of the travel expenses. Sold! I was 24 years old and had just finished my first year of law school when my dream came true. After visiting Cairo and Luxor with my grandmother as my guide, I was hooked. I knew I had to have more travel and adventure in my life. Since that trip, I have graduated law school, obtained a license to practice law in the state of Louisiana, went back to graduate school to obtain a Master’s in Communication Disorders, became a licensed speech language pathologist in Louisiana, and started a photography business with Kevin.
Here are a few other tidbits about Nicole:
- I am a bit of a control freak and love to plan…thankfully, I’m not so type A that I have to have every minute planned. I recognize that you do need room for some spontaneity in life!
- Donald Duck is my favorite Disney character, and I will purchase anything and everything with Donald or Daisy Duck on it.
- I love to read. In the past, I’ve been mostly a fiction reader. I’ve always loved Stephen King in particular. But, as I age, I’ve found a love for books about business and life in general. Never stop learning, right?
- I have to have multiple napkins or tissues nearby when reading a book, watching a movie, or watching a TV show because I will cry like a baby at the smallest thing. I find it cathartic.
- I started my travels in the heat of Egypt, but I’ve found that I much prefer traveling to colder weather destinations. Maybe it’s because I’ve always lived with heat and humidity?
About Kevin
Kevin is the trophy husband who, when he is not fixing his hair in any reflective surface readily available, is focusing his camera towards anything even remotely interesting. Oh wait, I’m writing this about myself, so let me avoid the third person. Although Kevin does enjoy referring to himself in the third person. Anyway, I’m the lucky guy that met the beautiful, brilliant, and hilarious girl at law school and have been trying to keep up with her ever since! My part of our marriage vows included going to Broadway shows and traveling the world. Little did I know when I agreed to that, she actually meant the entire world! Our honeymoon to Australia was my first real international experience and, ever since our visit there, I’ve been excited to go “walkabout” the world. I love photographing landscapes and the night sky.
Here are a few tidbits about Kevin:
- I have a love of the guitar. I recently purchased a Gibson Hummingbird, and, man, can she sing!
- I love old muscle cars. I’m currently having my dad’s old 1971 Chevy Nova restored.
- I love cool leather jackets. I probably have an entire closet full of them.
- Wolverine is my favorite superhero…no, wait…Thor…no, wait…The Hulk…hmm…let me think about that one for a second more. Thor. Thor is my favorite…doesn’t hurt that he ties into my Norwegian heritage either.
- My grandfather emigrated to the United States from a small town near Trondheim, Norway.
